It’s still a very good sequel and I’ll never tell anyone they’re wrong for liking it best.To say that it still stings that Dead Space developer Visceral Games is gone (and along with them for the time being, the Dead Space franchise) is an understatement. Even if it took me a few tries to get over that it’s a little different than DS. Having said that, DS2 is of course fantastic. I also really don’t like the DS2 suit design. I also very much missed upgrading my armor in DS2, it just felt like there weren’t any milestones to give you that satisfaction. It feels more like you are Isaac rather than watching Isaac. I think Isaac and the game is more interesting when he doesn’t talk. They’re both great but Alien and Dead Space are my favored and most pure iterations for having the best tone, atmosphere, and authentic terror. Comparing DS2 to DS is very much like comparing Aliens to Alien. Dead Space 2 was of course great too, but honestly my favorite (and scariest) part was going to back to the Ishimura. Tonally, it’s more in line with what I want. I just very much prefer the subtly and focus of Dead Space 1. It took me three tries to get into Dead Space 2. I’d love for some Dead Space 2 fanboys tell me why they loved it more in the comments. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I beat both games back to back in the same week but I feel that the second game is amazing but nowhere near as good as the first. I don’t know if this opinion is just rare. (Though I still prefer the way the Ishumura felt and looked). The combat for me is the only thing that I felt really improved, also the level design being more varied is good too. Their wasn’t much intrigue with the story besides Issacs mental state. With Dead Space 2 it felt more action movie. The slow building horror and the aftermath of the whole ordeal is awesome. I also really prefer the intrigue and mystery of what happened on the Ishumura. The horror was way played down never reaching the scares that the first game had. I don’t know if it hasn’t clicked for me yet or something but I really don’t feel the same.

Which is definitely well deserved but almost every video I watch on the game says it’s way better than the original. I’ve seen a lot of praise about Dead Space 2 online.
